The Blues have been sniffing around Destro for most of the summer so far and now reports say they’re moving in for him in the closing stages of the window.

And the west Londoners will now look to push a deal through to bring him on board for a fee in the region of £19.8m after Costa was ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Chelsea are also in need of a striker as misfit Fernando Torres closes in on a deal to AC Milan.

With just under a week to go in the transfer window, the club are now in desperate need to swell their attacking numbers if they are to mount a significant challenge for the Premier League and Champions League titles.

Destro, 23, is one of the hottest properties in Europe this summer following a strong showing last term, where he scored 13 goals for Roma and picked up a host of assists.
