Chelsea could be dealt a major injury blow with the news that Diego Costa could miss as much as six weeks of action with a hamstring injury, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Spanish international, who has been in fine form for the Blues since he completed a £32m move from Atletico Madrid this summer, picked up the problem in training this week and could now be out of action for some time, it is feared.

The full extent of the problem is not yet known, but there’s no doubt that Jose Mourinho’s side will be cursing their luck after finally bringing in a top quality striker to improve on the likes of Fernando Torres, whilst backup players such as Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku were also sold to make way for the club’s new star signing.

Costa has two goals in two Premier League games for his new club so far, continuing the fine form that saw him emerge as one of the best attacking players in Europe in Atletico’s title-winning campaign last season.

However, the 25-year-old did miss the end of that season with some niggling injury problems as well, and also appeared not to be fully fit for Spain during the World Cup earlier this summer.
