Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of AS Monaco Radamel Falcao, according to reports from Calcio Mercato in the Italian Press, with the Colombian set to arrive at the Bernabeu on a season long loan deal costing Carlo Ancelotti’s men a huge 20 million euro fee.

Falcao has been linked with a host of major European clubs this summer, including Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool, but the player has reportedly always been keen on a move back to Madrid, where he enjoyed a successful spell with Atletico, to join up with compatriot and former Monaco teammate James Rodriguez.

The report suggests that a deal was struck between Real and Monaco following this afternoon’s Champions League draw in the principality, a ceremony in which Cristiano Ronaldo was also named as the best player in Europe.

Real are perhaps unable to secure a permanent deal for Falcao due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, having already sealed deals for the likes of Rodriguez and goalkeeper Keylor Navas this summer, but any loan deal would likely give Los Blancos the option to make the deal permanent next summer.

The move would be a blow to Monaco, who will have lost their two star players in the year that they return to the Champions League after finishing as runners-up in Ligue 1 last year.
