Chelsea have allowed another one of their young starlets to depart the club on a season-long loan deal, with Championship club Middlesbrough confirming that they have completed a deal to bring striker Patrick Bamford to the Riverside Stadium.

The former Nottingham Forest youngster enjoyed prolific spells with Milton Keynes Dons in League One and Derby County in the Championship this summer and Aitor Karanka, the current ‘Boro manager and Jose Mourinho’s former Real Madrid assistant, will be hoping that his goals can help them challenge for a return to the Premier League.

The 20 year-old England Under 21 international scored 8 goals goals for the rams and 21 for the Dons last season and is seen as a potential star of the future at Stamford Bridge, having shown himself to be a clinical finisher – although the Blues will be hoping that Bamford can improve his all-round game during a year in the second tier.

Bamford is not the only young Chelsea star to be on loan at the Riverside Stadium, with Nigerian international centre back Kenneth Omeruo also having been signed by Karanka after enjoying a successful short-term spell with the club last season, whilst Tottenham Hotspur full back Ryan Fredericks has also put pen-to-paper on a loan deal with Middlesbrough.
