Liverpool Boss Raves Over Adam Lallana’s Training Performance, Midfielder Set For Spurs Debut

The England midfielder is fit and ready for the Reds…

Liverpool fans can ready themselves not only to see Mario Balotelli make his Liverpool debut at the weekend, but also £26m signing Adam Lallana, who has wowed manager Brendan Rodgers in training, the Daily Mail reports.

The 26-year-old is Liverpool’s most expensive signing of the summer, and their second most expensive of all time behind Andy Carroll, but he’s yet to make a single appearance, friendly or competitive, due to an injury picked up in pre-season training.

His manager though has been mightily impressed with his training form, and has hinted at giving him a debut on Sunday, when the Reds travel to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham.

“Adam Lallana will definitely be in the squad,” Rodgers said.

“He has looked fantastic in training.”

If Lallana does come into the side, he could either take Coutinho’s position in attacking midfield, or Joe Allen’s as part of a midfield three alongside the undroppable duo of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.

Balotelli, who is Liverpool’s latest arrival at £16m, will also be in the Reds’ squad for the crunch Premier League clash. The Italian maverick is likely to start from the bench though, with Daniel Sturridge expected to lead the line, supported by the brilliant Raheem Sterling.
