Manchester United are set to give a debut to British record signing Angel di Maria as they travel to Burnley on Saturday lunchtime with the aim of putting a dreadful start to the season behind them.
Louis van Gaal’s side remain winless and were humiliated in the League Cup in midweek, with MK Dons running riot in a 4-0 victory in Buckinghamshire that shocked United fans.
It will be intriguing to see whether the Dutchman sticks with the 3-4-1-2 system that his squad has thus far struggled to adapt to, or whether he reverts to something more conventional.
Burnley, meanwhile, are looking for their first point since promotion back to the Premier League under Sean Dyche, with the Clarets having been beaten by Chelsea and Swansea in their first two fixtures, whilst striker Danny Ings is also looking to get off the mark in the top tier.
United haven’t won at Turf Moor for some half a century and will be haunted by their last visit up the road, when a screamer by Robbie Blake settled the clubs’ last meeting on Burnley turf.
