Football legend set for strange move to India…

Check in to Everton vs Chelsea

Indian Super League team Chennai Titans have made an approach for football legend and two-time Ballon D’or winner Ronaldinho, reports respected Indian paper The Hindu.

Ronaldinho’s agent Roberto de Assis is currently negotiating a deal, and while the club want to secure his services for two years, the player himself only wants to commit to a much shorter deal.

The plan is that the player represents Chennai Titans until Christmas, and then signs a deal with an MLS franchise in time for the new year.

Now 34, Ronaldinho is still one of the most loved and recognised faces in world football, although his ability to really cut it at the top level has declined due to his lack of pace and lazy on-field attitude.

Ability wise however, there are few who can tie the former Barcelona and AC Milan playmaker’s laces.

Earlier in the summer Ronaldinho was linked to both QPR and Stoke, but a move to India would seem even more bizarre, and enormous financial incentives are surely the only reason the player is considering signing a deal.

Ronaldinho will join Arsenal legends Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg, who have also signed shot term deals to play in the Indian Super League.
