Emirates Stadium side send chief negotiator to complete deal.

Arsenal are hopeful of completing the club record capture of PSG forward Edinson Cavani on transfer deadline day with the north London club sanctioning a £44m bid for the Uruguayan international.

CaughtOffside understands that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been chasing the PSG marksman for some weeks and the long term injury suffered by French international Olivier Giroud has hastened his chase to sign the former Napoli man.

Arsenal’s chief negotiator Richard Law is in Paris looking to complete the deal with Cavani said to be keen to see the move done and dusted after growing disillusioned with life at the Parc des Princes.

The powerful forward has primarily been used in a wide role by PSG manager Laurent Blanc and Cavani is unhappy at playing second fiddle to Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

PSG may be ready to listen to offers for Cavani as they seek to adhere to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines having spent over £50m to bring in David Luiz and Serge Aurier and could well consider Arsenal’s bid.

Cavani racked up an astonishing total of 104 goals in three seasons at Napoli before completing a £52m move to the French capital, scoring 25 times in his debut season.

Arsene Wenger will be attracted by the fact that Cavani is a versatile performer though will see 27 year old chiefly as a central striking option who can challenge Giroud for a starting spot, the former Montpellier man being out until the new year with a fractured food.

Wenger is ready to accept bids for German international Lukas Podolski and Costa Rican youngster Joel Campbell if he secures Cavani.
