Old Trafford side want Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.
Man United scouts were reportedly in Portugal on Sunday night to watch William Carvalho in action during the Lisbon derby according to O Jogo.
Though Louis van Gaal has invested over £130m in new additions this summer already it appears he has his sights set on further signings and could feel that he is need of a strong tackling midfielder.

22 year old Sporting Lisbon battler William Carvalho played a key role in helping his side to a runners-up spot in the Primeira Liga last term and forced his way into Paulo Bento’s 2014 World Cup squad and has been the subject of a great deal of interest this summer.
Arsenal had been linked with Carvalho earlier this summer but may have been scared off by the inflated price-tag placed on the youngster, with some sources claiming that Sporting may want as much as £35m for the player.
One wonders if Man United would be willing to fork out such a fee.
Van Gaal has also been linked with an interest in AC Milan’s Nigel de Jong and the experienced Dutch international may be a more cost effective option.
