Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has made a parting shot towards departed star Angel di Maria, who joined Manchester United for a British record £59.7m earlier this week.
Carlo Ancelotti spoke about Real Madrid’s recent transfer dealings at his press conference today, notably, Xabi Alonso’s move to Bayern, and Di Maria’s move to Man United.
The Italian boss didn’t want either player to leave, but while he singled out Alonso for praise, his words were less kind regarding the Argentine winger, who made his United debut this afternoon in a 0-0 draw with Burnley.
Speaking about Di Maria he said: “Some players like competition, others want to earn more money… if a player no longer has the motivation to play for the biggest club in the world, I have no problem in letting him leave.”
Di Maria is believe to have increased his annual wage packet by around £10m. You can watch Ancelotti’s full press conference below:
