Ghana midfielder signs for newly promoted outfit after Barnsely released him…

Little known Russian outfit FC Ufa, who are newly promoted to the Russian top flight, have taken a risk on free agent midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, reports the Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old left Arsenal to join Barnsley in January, but failed to earn a contract extension and was released earlier this summer.

Frimpong has been linked to various European clubs, but has now signed a three contract with the Russian outfit, and will wear the no.5 shirt for his new club.

The Ghana international was once was rated as one of Arsenal’s hottest prospects, but a series of injuries and unsuccessful loan spells at Wolves and Fulham curtailed his progression.

The player has often been accused of not focussing entirely on his football, partly because of his t-shirt range with cousin Lethal Bizzle, some of the average music he’s released, and the rather irritating catch phrase ‘Dench’, which he coined.

Time will tell whether he’s able to develop in Russia and earn himself a move back to England.
