The north London club had a bid accepted by the former Ligue 1 champions on Friday, but the deal could not be completed in time for him to join the rest of the squad to take on Liverpool on Sunday.

The midfielder progressed through the ranks at the Ligue 1 club and, having made his senior debut in 2010, went on to make 129 First Team appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.

He was a part of that title winning side in 2012, and he has 14 caps for the France under-21’s to his name, though he is yet to be called up by the senior side.

Playing mostly in the centre of midfield, he can also be used as a defensive midfielder or as a centre-back when needs be, and should add some serious competition across the middle and back line.

He had been closing in on a £4.7m deal to sign for Serie A giants Fiorentina, but Spurs acted quickest to land his signature and it is likely that they paid a similar fee.
