Everton manager Roberto Martinez is still interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, the Daily Mirror reports.

Cleverley has been told that he can leave United with manager Louis Van Gaal wanting to overhaul his midfield and get players like Cleverley off the clubs wage bill.

One possible destination for Cleverley could be Goodison Park, with Martinez known to be a huge admirer of the England international.

Cleverley would be interested in a move to Everton as the Toffees will almost certainly be competing with the Premier League’s top clubs for a place in the Champions League next season.

With that in mind, United would prefer that Cleverley doesn’t move to a rival for the Champions League places and would prefer that the midfielder moves to Aston Villa, who are also interested in the 25 year old.

Reports suggest that Cleverley would prefer to move to Everton and if the midfielder does reject the opportunity to go to Villa, United will sanction a move to Goodison Park, such is their desire to sell the out of favour midfielder.

Hull City and Valencia are also thought to be interested in Cleverley but reports suggest that the player has no interest in moving to either of those two clubs.
