Rumours of a deadline day deal for Arsenal have excelled into overdrive on Monday morning after manager Arsene Wenger was snapped boarding a plane to Rome.

Though there are no concrete facts over why Wenger is heading to the Italian capital, it is only fair to assume the he is en route to conduct some last minute transfer business.
One theory is that he is on his way to conduct a deal to sign in-demand Roma striker Mattia Destro, after reports emerged over the weekend that the club planned to hijack Chelsea’s move for the player.

However, it has also been hinted that he could be on his way to a charity match being held in the city, with the ‘Match for Peace’ game being hosted by the Vatican.
It is a plausible theory in itself, though it would undoubtedly cause some controversy amongst the fans to forgo the busiest transfer day of the year.
Arsenal are currently in desperate need for a new striker after Olivier Giroud suffered a broken ankle earlier this month.
