Manchester United could be set for one final move to sign Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal, with Tuttosport reporting that manager Louis van Gaal watched him in action against Chievo this weekend.

The Chilean international has been linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford for much of the summer so far with the Red Devils known to be keen on bringing in a new midfielder, though they have been frustrated in their efforts so far.

Vidal is widely regarded as being one of the best central midfield players in the world at the moment, and van Gaal is understood to have watched Juventus’ game against Chievo especially to get one last look at the 27-year-old in action.

Whilst the Dutchman did not travel to the game, he is reported as having followed it on television with a view to getting a good look at Vidal’s performance before a possible deadline day bid.

It remains to be seen how much of an indication this will be of an impending move for the South American star, and a number of other big-name targets have been linked with United in the last few hours as the transfer deadline approaches.
