Stoke City are to step up their interest in Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi according to the Daily Mirror.

The 26 year old Moroccan international has been told he is not part of Brendan Rodgers’ plans and as such should look for a new club and Mark Hughes will look to sign the attacker on tranfer deadline day.

Assaidi spent last season on loan at the Britannia Stadium and impressed in patches and Hughes hopes to secure a £5m deal to sign the player on a permanent basis.

Liverpool brought in Assaidi from Heerenveen in August 2012 but he is still yet to start a single Premier League fixture for the Merseyside outfit.

An offer of £5m would see Liverpool more than double the £2.4m outlay they paid for the player and seems a deal that could well be completed before the transfer window slams shut.

Assaidi made 25 appearances for the Potters last term, netting five goals in all competitions.
