William Carvalho has ruled out a potential deadline day move to the Premier League, despite reported interested from both Manchester United and Arsenal.

Sky Sports reports that Carvalho wishes to remain at Sporting Lisbon and has no intention of leaving the Portuguese club on deadline day.

“I have a deal with Sporting and I am a player of Sporting,” he said.

“My present is this club and I am feeling very good with Sporting. It really has not entered my head to leave Sporting on the last day.”

Both Arsenal and Manchester United have considered making bids for the 22 year old with reports suggesting that he could be available for around £20 million.

United are looking to strengthen their central midfield and did see Carvalho as an alternative to Arturo Vidal, who has also been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, United will have to look elsewhere following Carvalho’s decision to remain in Lisbon.

Arsenal have also been on the look out for a defensive midfielder with Carvalho thought to be their main target but, it appears that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has decided to wait until January before bolstering his midfield.
