Mario Balotelli could finally reach his potential, claims Ukrainian forward…
AC Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko, who endured a short and unsuccessful stint in the Premier League with Chelsea, has praised Mario Balotelli following the striker’s Liverpool move, reports the Daily Mail.
The Italian forward’s seemingly bargain £16m move to Anfield from the Milanese was one of the most talked about transfers of the summer, and the 24-year-old made his debut for the Reds in a 3-0 away win at Tottenham on Sunday.
Although Balotelli started well with AC Milan after his move from Manchester City, the maverick quickly become disenchanted with life at the San Siro, and it wasn’t long before it became impossible for him to stay.
Shevchenko, a Champions League winner with AC Milan, has claimed that Balotelli, despite his regular off the field problems, has more than enough talent to reignite his career at Anfield.
“If Balotelli wasn’t happy at Milan and the club were not satisfied either, it was the right decision to part ways,” said the former Ballon D’or winner.
“But I saw Mario in action at the European Championship in Ukraine and Poland two years ago and he was a fantastic player. I refuse to believe that’s all gone all of a sudden.
“Mario deserves another chance and Liverpool are giving him that chance. Liverpool are a great team and could have the ambition to win the Champions League.
“It’s now up to Balotelli to overcome his difficulties and take his fate back in his own hands again.”
Balotelli will likely form part of an exciting looking strike partnership with Daniel Sturridge for the Reds, hoping to help Brendan Rodgers’ side go one better than last term and win a maiden Premier League title.
