The 25-year-old was strongly linked with a permanent deal to Villa Park on Monday, but personal terms could not be agreed between the player and the Birmingham club.
However, according to Telegraph reporter Mark Ogden the Villains have the option to sign Cleverley permanently in January for £7.5m.

New Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal has deemed the England international surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and there was great interest in the player on transfer deadline day on Monday.
Both Everton and Hull City also showed interest, but it was Villa that actually entered negotiations with United over the deal.
Cleverley is a product of the youth system at the Theatre of Dreams, breaking into the first team in 2008 and enjoying loan spells with Leicester City, Watford and Wigan Athletic.
