England play their first match since their disappointing 2014 World Cup campaign when they take on Norway at Wembley Stadium in an international friendly.

With their first Euro 2016 qualifier coming up against Switzerland on Monday, manager Roy Hodgson is likely to field a strong team in London.

New £16m Arsenal signing Danny Welbeck is likely to miss out having picked up an ankle injury in training, so here is how CaughtOffside thinks Hodgson will line up his team.

UPDATE: Roy Hodgson has actually named his side in advance of the fixture. The team below has been changed to reflect his choice.

GK – Joe Hart

The Manchester City goalkeeper is the established No.1 and after a blip in form last season now looks back to his solid best.

RB – John Stones

Everton defender John Stones is a highly promising player, but despite having impressed more at centre back, he will start on the right side of the back four here.

CB – Phil Jones

Having played at centre-back for Manchester United this term and doing well, Jones will start in the heart of the England defence in place of Phil Jagielka.

CB – Gary Cahill

The Chelsea defender was in contention to be the new captain and Cahill is now considered one of the finest centre-backs in European football.

LB – Leighton Baines

The 29-year-old had a poor World Cup, but with Ashley Cole now retired the left-back spot is his for the time being and Baines has the capability to succeed.
