Man United are readying a £25m bid for AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman according to the Daily Mail.

The Old Trafford side will make an offer for the 24 year old in the January transfer window when the Dutch international should have fully recovered from a long term knee injury.

Boss Louis van Gaal spent freely over the summer but seemingly feels his side could do with further investment and there is no doubting that the former PSV Eindhoven man can offer the Premier League side even more quality in the centre of the park and could combine well alongside Spaniard Ander Herrera.

Strootman moved to the Italian capital last summer and made a real impact before his season was curtailed in March, the injury suffered in a defeat against Napoli also ending his hopes of a spot in the 2014 World Cup finals set-up.

Van Gaal spent over £150m to bring in a host of big name signings including the aforementioned Herrera, England teen Luke Shaw, Argentine defender Marcos Rojo and South American pair Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao.
