Bayern Munich are becoming increasingly concerned at the time it is taking for Thiago Alcantara to return to full fitness.

The creative midfielder hasn’t played for Bayern since the clubs 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim in March, with the Spanish international being sidelined with a knee injury.

It was expected that Thiago would be fully fit for the start of the 2014/15 season, but the 23 year old is still recovering from injury, something that has worried Bayern’s sporting director Matthias Sammer.

“We cannot really say how long his recovery will take,” Sammer was quoted by Goal.

“It’s impossible to set a date for a comeback. This is a very regrettable development.”

Thiago struggled to make an impact in his first season at the Allianz Arena due to injuries. He made 25 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, scoring three goals in the process.

Bayern are struggling with injuries at the moment, especially in midfield, with Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger both out for the time being.

The German champions have taken four points from their two Bundesliga games so far and Guardiola’s side are expected to win the league once again, especially after adding the likes of Robert Lewandowski to their squad during the summer.
