Jose Mourinho was hoping that Fernando Torres would choose Inter Milan over AC Milan.

However, the Portuguese coach was left disappointed as Torres decided to join AC, completing a two year loan move from Chelsea in the final days of the transfer window.

Mourinho is still a big fan of his former club Inter, where he spent two years and won Serie A in both seasons. He also secured a Champions League title for the club in his second season at the San Siro. It is because he loves Inter so much that he wanted Torres to join the blue half of Milan.

“I’m an Interista and I would have preferred if he’d gone to Inter,” the Portuguese was quoted by Goal.

“However, I hope that he does equally well at Milan”.

During Torres’ time at Stamford Bridge, rumours suggested the Spaniard and Mourinho didn’t get on, with the 30-year-old becoming frustrated at his lack of first team football.

However, Mourinho claims that this is not the case.

“What I can say about Fernando is that as a person and a professional, there is nothing to doubt about him,” the 51-year-old continued.

“He’s a fantastic boy and a great professional. However, he needed a change of scenery.”

Torres cost Chelsea £50 million in January 2011 but he struggled to live up to that price-tag, scoring just 20 goals in 110 games.
