Liverpool have their scouts tracking the progress of 15 year-old Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard, report the Metro, ahead of a possible move for the player dubbed ‘the new Cristiano Ronaldo’ in the January transfer window.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers sent his senior scouts to Norway’s Under 21 match with Portugal this evening, according to the report, and they were impressed with what they saw as Odegaard played ninety minutes in his side’s 2-1 defeat to a talented Portugal side containing a number of exciting young talents.

The Reds have also been tracking Odegaard’s recent domestic progress, with the 15 year-old now having made 15 senior league appearances for Stromsgodset as they challenge at the top of the Norwegian, scoring three goals.

The club have fallen back slightly since the departure of manager Ronny Deila to Celtic and are seemingly unable to catch league leaders Molde, but will feel confident of challenging the likes of Rosenborg and Odd Grenland for a place in European competition in twelve months’ time.

It is not yet known what kind of fee that Stromsgodset are set to demand for Odegaard, but it is sure to be significant, with the player having begun to attract the envious glances of big clubs across Europe – although the fact that he is a huge fan of Liverpool could well give Rodgers and his side the advantage.
