Manchester United Have Not Bid For AS Roma Star Strootman, Claims Agent

Strootman not yet set for Old Trafford move.

Manchester United news

There is no offer on the table from Manchester United for AS Roma playmaker Kevin Strootman, report the Express, with the player’s agents having denied reports that his client is set to become the latest big money signing for United once he is over serious injury in January.

Strootman is known to be a favourite of van Gaal’s, with the Dutchman’s plans having been thrown into chaos once Strootman was ruled out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup through an injury sustained whilst at the Stadio Olimpico, and had been linked with a January move for the former PSV Eindhoven star.

This has been denied by the player’s agent Fabio Parisi, however, who suggests that his client will be staying at the Serie A runners-up:

“There is no kind of interest on Strootman.”

“He is recovering from his injury and will be available soon to contribute to Roma’s cause.”

“For the rest, I say that is just talk and there is nothing, it’s all just speculation from England.”

This looks set to quash any suggestions that Strootman will be the next capture for van Gaal and the Old Trafford hierarchy, for the time being at least, with the Red Devils having continued their stunning summer spending splurge with the deadline day captures of Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao.

There remain doubts over whether van Gaal and Ed Woodward’s summer dealings can strengthen United’s central midfield enough, however, so Roma are still likely to be bracing themselves for January interest in one of Rudi Garcia’s side’s key assets.

He won’t come cheaply, however, despite the injury, having been perhaps the most impressive player for Garcia during their run to the summit of the Serie A table at the start of last season.
