Manchester United’s newest recruit, Radamel Falcao, has surprised everyone by admitting that his move to Old Trafford was months in the making and wasn’t the deadline day panic buy that many assumed it was.

The Colombian striker completed his season long loan move to Old Trafford in the closing hours of the transfer window.

Rumours of a possible move to United only surfaced in the early hours of Monday morning. The 28-year-old had routinely been linked with moves to likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City but not the Red Devils, leaving many pundits shocked that he ended up there.

Despite not being linked with a move to United, Falcao claims that he had been in negotiations with the recently deposed Premier League champions for many months.

“I am very proud to be at Manchester United,” the striker was quoted by the Daily Mail.

“We have been in talks with the club for some months and, in the end, we were able to reach an agreement with Monaco on the last day of the transfer deadline.”

Falcao looks set to make his debut for United in the Red Devils next game, which is at home to QPR on Sunday 14t September.
