City’s number one yet to be offered new Etihad Stadium deal.

Manchester City are yet to offer a new contract to England international goalkeeper Joe Hart, report the Mirror, despite a host of City stars including captain Vincent Kompany and winger Samir Nasri having been tied down to new long-term deals at the Etihad Stadium.

There have been murmurs for much of the summer that Hart was to be the next Manchester City star whose future would be secured, but City chiefs are yet to open talks with the 27 year-old’s representatives over a deal that would be likely to keep him at the club well into his 30s.

This is despite Hart having seen off the challenge of Romanian stopper Costel Pantillimon last season and also, thus far at least, being preferred to new signing Willy Caballero during the current campaign by Manuel Pellegrini.

There may still be some concerns over the occasional errors that blight Hart’s game, however – with Mame Biram Diouf’s shot that crept past Hart to win the game for Stoke City at the Etihad Stadium last week being a prime example.

Despite the wait, however, there is no suggestion that Hart will be allowed to leave the Etihad Stadium in the near future – although his performances will need to be stepped up if he is to persuade the club’s hierarchy to offer him the long term contract that will secure his future.
