United and Arsenal quoted mammoth asking price for winger.Fiorentina have told Manchester United, Arsenal and other interested clubs that in-demand winger Juan Cuadrado will only move for at least £36m this January, according to reports in Italy.
The Colombian international has been one of the most sought after talents in the transfer market in recent times, but proposed moves to the likes of United and La Liga giants Barcelona failed to go through this summer.
An ideal signing for Louis van Gaal’s side, Cuadrado is still on the Dutchman’s wish list as he would fit in perfectly as a right-sided wing-back in the team’s 3-5-2 formation.
The 26-year-old is a pacey, skillful and hard-working player and has also been earmarked for that role at Barcelona, though the Catalan giants may have cooled their interest in the player after signing highly-rated Brazilian youngster Douglas for that position instead in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Various reports suggested that Cuadrado could move for around £30m in the summer, though his asking price is now understood to have gone up as Fiorentina hope to put other clubs off bidding for him to avoid losing such a key player in the middle of the season.
Still, United are joined by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in keeping tabs on Cuadrado’s situation, with the South American star known to be keen on taking on a new challenge at a bigger club after establishing himself as a genuinely world class talent with La Viola.
It remains to be seen if clubs will pay his increased asking price, but he still looks a player worth gambling on due to his immense natural talent and proven record at the top level.
