The Columbian was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2011, with then Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas being a huge admirer of the striker due to the relationship they forged while at FC Porto.

At the time, Falcao said: “There is a club that I dream to play for.”

“They are foreign but I do not want to say who it is now.

“The Spanish league is good, but I prefer the Premier League as there is a better atmosphere on the field.”

It was assumed that he meant Chelsea with reports suggesting that the Blues were willing to activate his then £27 million release clause. However, the move never happened with Falcao instead joining Atletico Madrid.

It now appears that the one Premier League club that the 28 year old wanted to join was Manchester United with him recently stating that it is a dream come true to join the 20 time league champions.

“It is a dream come true to play for such a great and famous club. To bring the good times back is what we all want, and I will work extra hard to do that,” he said.

“I made the right choice to join Manchester United. United was always in my best interests.”
