The experienced centre-forward is currently out of contract after leaving his previous club Besiktas at the end of last season, and he has not yet managed to find himself a new club.

Almeida has been linked with Premier League sides in the past, with the likes of Leicester City and West Ham United also thought to be looking at him, though QPR are in need of another striker after Loic Remy joined Chelsea just before the end of the transfer window.

Rangers boss Harry Redknapp currently has Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora to choose from in attack, but could do with more options after Remy’s departure and a failed move to sign Fabio Borini from Liverpool late on on transfer deadline day.

Chilean star Eduardo Vargas can also fill in upfront, though the attacker on loan from Napoli for the season is better suited to a wide role, leading to interest in snapping up Almeida in the near future as he is still available.
