Robert Lewandowski scored four as Gibraltar were annihilated in Faro.

Gibraltar played host to Poland in their first competitive fixture, taking place in the Portuguese city of Faro, and held on for 11 minutes before conceding a historic first competitive goal.

Rennes midfielder Kamil Grosicki did the honours to find the net on 11 minutes, his first for his country.

Allen Bula’s team of part-timers then held their own for 37 minutes before Grosicki danced through to net his second, to open the floodgates.

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski grabbed the third of the game with a calm header.

Four minutes later the Bundesliga goal machine netted again, waltzing past Gibraltar defenders with ease.

Steaua defender Lukasz Szukala grabbed a fifth before the Lewandowski show continued.

The 26 year old former Borussia Dortmund man grabbed his hat-trick on 86 minutes before rifling home his fourth, and Poland’s seventh past hapless Gibraltar keeper Jordan Perez
