Man United and Liverpool are reportedly both plotting January moves for Barcelona wing-back Dani Alves according to the Daily Express.

The 31 year old Brazilian is into the final year of his contract and is free to discuss terms with a prospective suitor by the time the January transfer window opens and could be available for a ‘cut-price’ fee.

The La Liga side are unlikely to want to lose Alves on a free transfer next summer and providing their transfer ban is lifted the Catalan side could accept a small fee for the former Sevilla star.

Currently Louis van Gaal can call upon the likes of Rafael, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling or utility man Daley Blind to fill the role but Alves would certainly be a better fit for the right-back role.
