Of those only British record signing Angel di Maria has actually featured competitively for the Red Devils, but three more are in line for their debuts against QPR in the Premier League this weekend.

After weeks of speculation Luke Shaw was acquired from Southampton at the start of the transfer window in a £28m deal.

However, despite playing in pre-season the 19-year-old has been sidelined for all of the 2014/15 campaign so far due to injury.

Van Gaal was concerned about Shaw’s fitness levels as well and handed the left-back a personalised regime and now the teenager is ready to return to the starting XI.

Along with the England international two more recent signings are also in line to take on the Hoops, with Daley Blind signed from Ajax for £13.8m and Radamel Falcao acquired from AS Monaco on-loan on deadline day.

Both players are expected to start for van Gaal at Old Trafford on Sunday and there will be particular excitement in the stands to see Falcao take to the field, with the Colombia international having a reputation as one of the most lethal finishers in world football.
