The 30 year old England international is into the final year of his Anfield contract and with Brendan Rodgers being able to call upon loaned in Spaniard Javier Manquillo and youngster John Flanagan there is every chance that the Merseyside outfit would look to cash-in on Johnson in January.

Johnson hasn’t been at his best over the past year and could be ready for a fresh challenge though interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid is perhaps hard to fathom, as is reported interest from Serie A title holders Juventus.
Currently Carlo Ancelotti can call upon Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Arbeloa to fill such a role and it’s hard to see what extra value former Chelsea, West Ham and Portsmouth defender Johnson would offer the Champions League winners.
Glen Johnson has 174 appearances for Liverpool since his £18m move to the club in July 2009.
