The 22-year-old, who struck Germany’s winner in this summer’s World Cup final victory against Argentina, has been linked with Premier League clubs in the past after establishing himself as one of the most promising young players in the world during his time with previous club Borussia Dortmund.

Gotze has been somewhat slow to settle at Bayern, but big things will be expected of him this season after his heroics for Germany at the World Cup.

Still, while the talented playmaker admits he is currently happy with life in the Bundesliga, he feels he would welcome the challenge of moving to a foreign league at some point in the future.

“I might play for another 14 years, and a move abroad would certainly not be bad,” he said.

“A foreign country would also be tempting for someone of my personality, but I have not given it serious thought yet.”

This is likely to spark renewed interest from the Premier League’s big boys, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea mentioned as being his main suitors if he does become available anytime soon.

Gotze also took the opportunity to hit out at suggestions that he is arrogant, insisting he is down-to-earth and focused on his football.

“I am a fairly down-to-earth guy who only wants to focus on football and have fun,” he added. “That’s important. But, sadly, the perception from the outside sometimes is different.”
