The Welsh club have made a surprisingly strong start to the season with three wins out of all three of their opening games, including a superb 2-1 win away to Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

Monk was named Swansea manager back in February after the departure of Michael Laudrup, and finally looks to be making a strong impression at the Liberty Stadium after something of a slow start to life in management.

The Swans finished in 12th place in the Premier League last term, but can now dream of a higher finish this year after such a fine start to the season, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Aston Villa the only other unbeaten teams in the league at the moment.

Monk has spent well during the transfer window, bringing in Gylfi Sigurdsson from Tottenham Hotspur, and his fine work now looks to be paying off, with this award a fitting tribute to his achievements.

Elsewhere, Chelsea striker Diego Costa was chosen as the Player of the Month.
