Reds chief Brendan Rodgers has held a long standing interest in the Slovakian international, and has even been linked with a move for him in the past.

But reports in England and Italy are now suggesting that a January move could be on the cards after he gave a cryptic response to what his future may hold.

“I am happy here but in football you never know,” he told reporters.

Hamsik has often been rated as one of the best midfielders in Serie A and could be viewed as the ideal replacement for club legend Steven Gerrard as he draws close to the end of his career.

Liverpool are thought to have tried to grab Hamsik in the summer, while Napoli were in talks to sign Lucas Leiva.
