After both teams won on the opening weekend of the 2014 NFL season, both the Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals will be looking to maintain their 100% start.
The Bengals will put a nine-game regular-season home winning streak on the line when the Falcons visit on Sunday, but they will have to find a way to limit quarterback Matt Ryan.
Atlanta’s signal caller threw for a franchise-record 448 yards and three touchdowns in a 37-34 win over the New Orleans Saints last weekend, but he insisted immediately after the game that the team can’t get “too high or too low” after Week 1.
Ryan has a point as things will likely be much more difficult against the Bengals defense, but it was a confidence-boosting starting to the campaign for the Falcons who are one of the six teams heading to London this season.
Cincinnati have allowed over 20 points just twice in their home win streak, but despite the toughness of their defense, they have lost the last three meetings with Atlanta and will be eager to put an end to their poor run of form against their NFC opponents.
Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton threw for 301 yards and a touchdown on 25-of-38 passing without an interception last week in the 23-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens, although they did struggle with their running game and will need to have their offense firing on various fronts moving forward.
Nevertheless, this is undoubtedly one of the tougher calls to make of the weekend, but with the Falcons seemingly having the drop on their opponents after winning the last three consecutive contests, they will be hopeful of returning home with another victory to build momentum at the start of the season.
