Bayern Munich are readying a January bid for under-fire Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil with the Allianz Arena side keen to take advantage of the German international’s uncertain future at the north London club.

The 25 year old World Cup winner has struggled to meet expectations following his club record £42.5m move to the Emirates Stadium back in September 2013 and is a player Guardiola wants to bring in to boost his options in the final third.

Youngster Mario Gotze has recently publicly spoken of his desire to play football abroad whilst both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, both in their 30s, are perhaps in the latter stages of their respective glittering careers.

Ozil could be tempted by a move back to his native Germany and clearly Bayern Munich are a dominant force both domestically and on the continent and as such could be a side the former Werder Bremene and Real Madrid man would be open to joining.

Arsene Wenger has brought in attackers Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez but would be loathed to lose Ozil though the player may feel he is undervalued by his own club’s supporters and may seek an exit as a result.

Ozil’s tally of seven goals and 14 assists in 44 appearances for Arsenal is by no means poor but is perhaps below par for a player who smashed Arsenal’s transfer record and as such the level of expectation has been set accordingly.

Bayern Munich are ready to test the waters with a €40m (£32m) bid in January, an offer that would alert Ozil as to their interest.

The Bundesliga title holders had been keen on luring Marco Reus to boost their creative options in the long term but Borussia Dortmund will fight tooth and nail to prevent another of their talents moving to Bayern Munich and as such a move for Ozil may prove more realistic.
