Real Madrid star backs angry fans over under-performing keeper.Real Madrid defender Pepe has made some shocking comments to the press following his side’s 2-1 home defeat to local rivals Atletico Madrid last night, according to Sport.

A large section of the Bernabeu crowd were heard to be whistling and jeering at under-performing goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who has been badly off-form for some time now and may be close to being dropped from the team.
Although the veteran Spaniard was not at fault for either goal conceded by Real yesterday, the fans voiced their frustration at his lacklustre performances, and now appear to have been backed by one of Casillas’ own team-mates, as Pepe insisted that the fans are always right.
“The fans are always right. I have not heard them (whistling) but if they have, the fans are always right,” he said after the match.
It is hard to know in what context the quotes were initially made, but it would appear that the Portuguese international is equally unhappy with the performances of his goalkeeper behind him, and it could be that a number of the other Madrid players share the feeling that he is no longer fit to be first choice for the club.
Casillas also came under fire for his worrying displays for Spain as they crashed out at the group stages of this summer’s World Cup.
