Newcastle United are set to sack under-fire boss Alan Pardew according to the the Daily Mirror.

The Magpies suffered an embarrassing 4-0 defeat away at Southampton on Saturday and that may well act as a death knell to the 53 year old’s St James’ Park reign.

Pardew took over at the north-east side back in December 2010 and has had an up and down time of it, securing a surprise fifth place finish in 2011/12 but this season has seen his side fail to secure a win in their opening four Premier League fixtures.

Indeed the traveling Newcastle United fans made it abundantly clear that they were unhappy with Pardew, chanting for his sacking during their defeat at St Mary’s, something the former Southampton and West Ham boss had little issue with.

On the subject of the chants Pardew stated;

“They are fair because you can’t get beat 4-0 as Newcastle manager.

“It is tough to take and not that easy to digest and not easy for the players to play under those circumstances.”
