Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini could be offered Alan Pardew’s job if the Toon manager is sacked this season.

Fabrico Coloccini has emerged as a shock candidate to take over as manager of Newcastle United if Mike Ashley decides to part ways with Alan Pardew, according to the Telegraph.

Despite an abysmal start to the season, not to mention a torrid end to the previous campaign, Ashley is yet to lose faith in current manager Alan Pardew.

Firmly planted rock bottom of the Premier League, and yet to register a win in 2014/15, Pardew is hotly tipped to be the first manager to be sacked; Steve Bruce and David Moyes touted as long term targets for the club.

Current captain Fabricio Coloccini could be set for a spell in charge however, after impressing during Pardew’s suspension last season when he was given more responsibility.

On the back of their 4-0 defeat to Southampton, fans are calling for the manager’s head more than ever. And with assistant manager John Carver losing six of the seven games he has been in charge of so far, he is unlikely to be handed another opportunity.
