Blues to rival Arsenal for Barca wonderkid.Chelsea are being tipped to meet the £9.4m release clause for Barcelona’s latest teen sensation Munir El Haddadi, according to reports on talkSPORT.
The Blues want to rival Arsenal for the signature of the highly-rated 19-year-old, known simply as Munir, who has been a regular part of the first-team setup at the Nou Camp so far this season.
Barcelona are desperate to keep hold of the exciting youngster, and are confident in their ability to persuade him to stay at the club and continue his development after rising up through their famed La Masia youth academy.
Still, Munir’s fine form will surely continue to attract the interest of top clubs, with fierce rivals Real Madrid even failing with an offer for him earlier this year, according to reports.
Arsenal could do with more signings in attack after losing Olivier Giroud to injury until January, though it is hard to see where Munir would fit into this current Chelsea team, which has so much depth in a number of attacking positions.
Munir could be a great long-term addition to Jose Mourinho’s side, with 36-year-old Didier Drogba currently one of the club’s three main senior strikers.
