Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli has been slated after his return to the Premier League, falling short in comparisons against PSG’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Mario Balotelli has been labelled a flop by Sampdoria striker Stefano Okaka after leaving AC Milan and joining Liverpool for £16m in the summer, reports the DailyMail.

The former Fulham man has accused the new Liverpool signing of lacking the maturity of AC Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently scoring goals aplenty in France for PSG.

Despite scoring 26 goals in 43 appearances for AC Milan, Okaka has branded Balotelli a failure on his return to England.

“Is the fact Balotelli left Serie A for England a failure for our football? No, if anything he is the one who failed,” said Okaka.

“Does he think great champions were never under pressure? When Ibrahimovic was in Italy, he scored 30 goals per season.”

“He mustn’t keep looking to blame others. Mario is a great player, but if he had problems in Italy then half the responsibility is his,” he continued.

Ever controversial, Balotelli may have a response for Okaka, but to show he has really matured perhaps he should answer his critics on the pitch…

Liverpool’s opening Champions League fixture tomorrow night against Bulgarian champions Ludogorets would be a fantastic stage to do just that – with the forward having so failed to find the net in each of his first two Premier League appearances.
