Former Manchester United and England striker Dion Dublin took a cheeky swipe at Chelsea’s new seven-goal hit man Diego Costa by claiming that he took too long to score seven goals for his new club.

In 1998 the former goal machine left Coventry City for local rivals Aston Villa in a £5.75m deal, and quickly set about showing why Glen Hoddle had been so foolish to leave him out of the squad to travel to France for the World Cup that summer.

Dublin bagged his seven goals inside just three games, bagging a brace on his debut against Tottenham before notching a hat trick in the clash with Southampton. He then rounded off his excellent form with two more in the following fixture against Liverpool.

Costa took one more game to reach the same number prompting Dublin to say “I can’t believe it’s taken Diego Costa so long to notch 7 goals, come on kid pull ya finger out!! Hahaha #justbanter”
