Experienced full-back free to talk to clubs in January.Manchester United and Liverpoool are said to be on alert as Barcelona right-back Dani Alves prepares to leave the club next summer, according to Spanish source Fichajes.net.
The Brazilian international is in the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp and has made the decision not to renew his deal with the club, leaving him free to talk to other European sides from January onwards.
Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also said to be among those interested, but United and Liverpool will now hope to open talks with Alves at the turn of the year with the aim of luring the player to England next season.
The 31-year-old has been at Barca since 2008, and spent six years at Sevilla prior to that, meaning he has not yet played outside of Spain’s La Liga since moving to Europe from Brazilian side Bahia in 2002.
Alves has been as key player for the Catalan giants, helping them to several major honours, including forming part of their famous treble-winning side of 2008/09.
Both United and Liverpool could do with strengthening at full-back, with Alves offering experience and a quality going forward which would suit their styles of play.
