Gunners plot ambitious move for summer target.Arsenal are ready to make another ambitious move to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani this January after missing out on him during the summer, according to the Daily Express.
The Gunners look short of quality upfront at the moment after losing Olivier Giroud to injury, while new signing Danny Welbeck has struggled to impress so far since his £16m deadline day move from Manchester United.
Cavani would represent a major improvement in that position for Arsene Wenger’s side, with the Uruguayan showing himself to be a world class finisher during his time at previous club Napoli.
However, he has not quite settled with PSG, often being played out of position by manager Laurent Blanc to accommodate star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his preferred lone role upfront.
Cavani is unhappy with his current role in the side and had looked to leave the Parc des Princes during the summer, though a move to the Emirates Stadium never materialised for him.
Still, Arsenal remain keen on him and could revive their interest in the 27-year-old when the transfer window re-opens in the winter, though he is likely to cost around £50m or more to lure away from the French capital.
