England have less players registered for this season’s Champions League than Sweden and Turkey.
The debate about the future of English football could be about to be reignited, with the Mail having published figures showing the numbers of players of different nationalities registered to the teams in the group stages of the 2014/15 Champions League.
England feature particularly low down in this list, despite the presence of four clubs in the competition, as much as any other country:
=24) Ghana 4 – There are four Ghanaians registered, including hard-working midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah of Juventus.
=24) Cameroon 4 – There are also four players from Cameroon registered in the competition for this season.
