The Belgian’s performances this season have had the Anfield faithful on the edge of their seats and his slow reactions have often led to some nervy moments during games.

And with Rodgers lining up a possible move for former Barcelona No.1 Valdes in October Mignolet’s place is under serious threat.

The Reds are continuing to monitor Valdes’ recovery from a knee injury with the view of making a move for the 32-year-old in the coming weeks.

And with that in mind Rodgers has called for Mignolet to show more fight in order to keep his place in the side.

“I think Simon is a bit laid back. The key thing is to make sure you are on the front foot and aggressive,” he said.
