Having worked with Sneijder previously with the Dutch international side Louis van Gaal was thought to be keen on the midfielder this summer. The deal never materialised but it is believed that the Manchester United boss may have had plans to go back in for him next year…

He may be forced into action sooner than he had hoped however, with the Dutch international apparently looking to leave Galatasary; Juventus tipped to make a January move for the playmaker.

After a solid World Cup in Rio and a decent goals and assists ratio at the Turkish club, Sneijder’s stock seems to be on the rise despite being on the wrong side of 30.

With Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, playing similar positions for United, and with Wayne Rooney possibly playing a deeper role after the acquisition of Radamel Falcao, it’s hard to see where Sneijder would fit into the side. He is a player of undeniable quality however, and would no doubt add something to the squad; depth if nothing else.
